Description
The Wrigley’s Tennis ladder is designed to bring more match play to the area so that you can meet more people, improve your game and have fun competing regardless of where you play or live in the county.
This season there are two singles ladders:
- Wrigley’s Tennis “A” Ladder – Co-Ed NTRP ~4.0+
- Wrigley’s Tennis “B” Ladder – Co-Ed NTRP ~3.5 and below.
Joining a Ladder
- Option 1: Purchase ladder membership on this page. Upon checkout, your email address and phone number will be used for ladder communication. An email will be sent to you from the ladder software with details to login.
- Option 2: Visit Wrigley’s Tennis and join in person. Pay with any method (Card, cash, gift card, Apple Pay, CashApp, crypto)
- Ladder play begins May 1 and ends August 31. Registration is open through July.
- Players joining a singles ladder will be placed in the top, middle, or bottom third depending on rating (e.g. a 4.5 will start two thirds of the way down the ladder, and a 4.0 will start at the bottom of the ladder). Ladder admin may use their discretion on initial positioning as they feel is warranted.
- Matches must be played in Charlotte county. If you live outside of the county you are free to join the ladder but matches must be played in the county unless agreed upon by both parties.
Wrigley’s Tennis Ladder Rules
- You may issue 1 challenge(s) at a time
- You can only be challenged by one player/team at any given time. This prevents outstanding challenges from accumulating against you
- You may challenge up to 5 spots.
- When another player challenges you, you have 2 days to accept or deny. If you deny the challenge or don’t respond within 3 days, you forfeit the challenge and the challenger is granted an automatic win.
- If the challenge is successful, you will take the spot of the person you challenge and your opponent will be bumped down 1 spot.
- Higher ranked player has home court and chooses location. If the location is a private court that requires a guest fee, the higher ranked player is required to pay fee.
- Lower ranked player must provide one un-opened can of ITF approved tennis balls appropriate for the specific court surface for the match.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct and or cheating will not be tolerated and you will be permanently removed from the ladder without refund.
- Any and all rulings regarding conduct will be made by the ladder administrator and will be final.
- Your ladder admin is Richard Vernsey and can be emailed at rich@wrigleystennis.com if you have any questions.
Reporting & Inactivity
- Within 24 hours of the completion of the match, the winner must report the score via the ladder software.
- After 21 Days of no activity – player will be dropped 5 spots.
- After 42 Days of no activity – player will be dropped an additional 5 spots
- After 63 Days of no activity – player will be dropped from the ladder.
Administration
Our aim is to keep participation in the ladder fun, friendly and fair. We have the right to change rules at any time if we believe it’s in the spirit of the ladder. We want players to stay active and engaged. Everybody’s busy, but if you ignore challenges or don’t make an effort to play, it’s a bummer for everyone else. This is our first year running the ladder, and we will surely learn things and make changes to the upcoming winter ladder that will probably be much larger. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
